Was Ebony Sexually Harassed? A Second Look at Zylofon Boss’ Tweet, Mark Okraku and Bulldog’s Comments

Music Producer Mark Okraku-Mantey said on radio recently that artiste managers need to date their female clients to have a successful working relationship as a way of safeguarding investments.

“I’m talking based on the environment as in Ghana. Some man will sit in his house and take decisions for you because you have invested in his wife and he will call the shots…” explained Okraku-Mantey to Andy Dosty on Daybreak Hitz on Hitz FM.

“…and because your money is in there, you will conform whether it will help your investment or not or else the man will say she won’t work with the manager anymore.”

Another artiste Manager, BullDog also made same comments in December 2017.

“Primarily, if you want to manage a female artiste successfully, you have to be in a relationship, an emotional relationship and a sexual relationship with the artiste.” explained BullDog to Andy Dosty on Daybreak Hitz on Hitz FM.

He claimed that being in relationship with a female artiste as a male manager creates a bond, making work easier. ” you won’t succeed if you don’t do that.” adds BullDog.

He advised married men against managing female artiste because it might destroy their marriage: “I won’t encourage a married man to be managing a female artiste because he might ruin his marriage.”

Bulldog’s advice was ignored by married man Wils Kumi, who happens to be the CEO of Trust Productions, the record label that Patience Nyarko is signed on. Patience Nyarko is reported to have snatched her manager leaving his wife and children abandoned.

The Case of Ebony Reigns

As Richie of Lynx Entertainment comes out clean for not having sex with Mzvee, let us take a second look at Zylofon Media CEO, Nana Appiah Mensah’s post on social media in his tribute to the late songstress Ebony Reigns. Part of his quote read “Let`s pay CRITICAL ATTENTION to our female artistes”. The mention of female by Nana Appiah stresses on the fact that the problem faced by Ebony was female-related. The only problem that could be peculiar to a female is sexual harassment. Nana Appiah Mensah definitely would not have made this statement if he had no idea or knowledge of the problem Ebony was going through in the industry as a female. Ebony’s effort to leave her record label to Zylofon Music without the consent of her boss could be an attempt to leave a relationship she was tired of or not interested in. What then could have caused the sudden ‘betrayal and revenge‘ between her and Bullet? Becca was also reported to have been in bondage love affair with her former manager Kiki Banson and only made her relationship public when she left the label. Ghanacelebrities.com posted that:

“Now that Becca is no longer under the management of EKB Records, in fact less than 2 weeks after their break up, Becca shared her love and relationship issues freely and with joy on radio – something she would NEVER have done if she was still under the management of EKB Records owned by Kiki Banson.”

Per the social media post, Ebony confided in Nana Appiah Mensah of her predicament and problems in the industry. The Menzgold Boss however had this to say when given the chance on his Zylofon Radio to defend the post: “The emphasis I wanted to draw was even about the need to pay attention to female artistes; rendering them support and advantage on grounds of affirmative action in their professional endeavors, that I captured in CAPS which went unnoticed but I consider that a normal tendency.”

If Mark Okraku, being the head of the Creative Arts Council and Bulldog, artiste manager with many years of working experience, see it prudent to date female signees, then Bullet who might have taken them as his mentors, would have to come out to give his opinion on the foregoing.
