Celebrities have used social media to connect to their fanbase worldwide. Through social media, the gap between ordinary people and their icons become shorter.

However, social media accounts of well-known figures have a high likelihood of being impersonated.

As a result, social media apps have made it possible for public figures and people with global recognition to verify their social media accounts.

A verified social media account shows that the user is a notable public figure and a global brand. It is also evidence of the user’s high-status symbol.

Some popular Ghanaian celebrities do not have verified social media accounts, and it is quite surprising, considering how ‘famous’ they are.

Here’s a quick glance on www.ghanaweb.com at some prominent celebrities who have failed to make this feat.

Kofi Kinaata

Unexpectedly, musician and songwriter, and the Fante rap god, Martin King Arthur known as Kofi Kinaata has not been verified on twitter. A quick glance at his twitter page shows that he is very active; tweeting, retweeting, and commenting on tweets.

Samira Bawumia

The wife of the vice president of Ghana, Dr. Mahammudu Bawumia has not been verified on twitter. Apart from being the second lady of the country, she is also known for social activism.

Popular Comedian Derrick Kwabena Bonney, also known as DKB, the King of Ghana comedy has been cracking up the ribs of tweeps with laughter for years, but twitter has not verified him yet.

Joe Mettle

The Ghana Music Awards 2017 artiste of the year, gospel musician Joe Mettle has not been verified on twitter. This is surprising because he is one of the gospel artistes of fine repute in the country.

Prince David Osei

Controversial actor, Prince David has also not been verified on twitter. He has been on the social media platform since 2002, and is yet to get the blue tick.
