Nine candidates to challenge Mahama in flagberership race and we have the names

The National Democratic Congress (NDC) is bracing itself for what is expected to be a hotly contested flagbearership race that will likely play a key role in the fortunes of the party heading into the 2020 elections.

Without a doubt, former President John Dramani Mahama remains the favourite to win the contest but would have to strongly hold his own against some nine other candidates and party bigwigs.

This was revealed by General Secretary of the biggest opposition party, Johnson Asiedu Nketia, popularly referred to as General Mosquito.

Speaking to Accra FM’s on August 24, 2018, Asiedu Nketia revealed that so far some nine other candidates have communicated to the party their intention to challenge former president John Mahama and contest for the flagbearership position in a bid to lead the party in the 2020 general elections.

The nine candidates as mentioned by Asiedu Nketia are:

Alban Bagbin

Sylvester Mensah

Goosie Tanoh

Ekow-Spio Gabrah

Professor Joshua Alabi

Stephen Atubiga

Kweku Ricketts-Hagan

Elikplim Agbemava

Mr. Asiedu Nketia however forgot the name of the last candidate, and explained to Accra FM that that he was not in his office and as such could not remember all the names off head, promising to get back to them with the last candidate when he makes his way to his office later in the day.
