Morning Show Panelist wanted for expressing his opinion that the “President is foolish man and bogus man”


A morning show host and a panelist have been invited by the Police for respectively abetting and insulting the president of Ghana Nana Akuffo Addo.

The host of Tomenya, a morning show on Sela Radio, Dabala in the Volta Region of Ghana, Mohammed, is said to have allegedly permitted Luis Adjin, a panelist on the show, to insult the president of Ghana.

In a letter from the Ghana Police Service Divisional Headquarters in Sogakope to the Director of Sela Radio sighted by, Luis Adjin is quoted to have called the president “foolish man and bogus man”.

The letter signed by ASP Joseph Nakoja is requesting the radio station to release Mohammed, the host of the morning show to report to the Divisional Crime Officer at Sogakope. The letter went on to advise Mohammed to come along with Luis Adjin.

According to the Police, the “offence” was reported by Grace Kutu Acheampong, South-Tongu Consituency Chair for the ruling NPP party.

It is currently not clear if it is a crime for someone to call the president “foolish man and bogus man” if that is their opinion about him.
