Ghana coach Kwesi Appiah has named a 29-man provisional squad on Wednesday ahead of the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations to be held in Egypt.

The team consist of three goalkeepers, ten defenders, eleven midfielders and five strikers.

The squad is made up of experienced players; Jonathan Mensah, Thomas Partey, John Boye,Jordan Ayew,Afriyie Acquah ,Christian Atsu and new captain Andre Ayew as well as  debutants; Nuhu Musa, Samuel Owusu, Kwabena Owusu. Mohammed Alhassan and Abdul Fatawu.

Ghana highest goal scorer Asamoah Gyan was also included in the provisional squad after officially rescinding his decision to retire from the Black Stars when Ghana’s president Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo Addo intervened.

Ghana’s team will have their pre-tournament training camp in Dubai and have lined up two warm-up games against South Africa and Namibia.

The final 23-man squad will be named on June 10.

Ghana is in the same group with defending champions Cameroon, Benin and Guinea-Bissau.
