Guinea has included Liverpool midfielder Naby Keïta in their provisional squad for the Africa Cup of Nations despite his injury.

Keïta sustained an adductor muscle injury which initially ruled him out for about eight weeks and currently on a recovery plan.

The 24-year-old sustained the thigh injury in the first leg of the Champions League semi-final against Barcelona.

Guinea has disputed the diagnosis and are hoping he recovers in time for the AFCON in Egypt.

Liverpool manager Jürgen Klopp revealed the former RB Leipzig enforcer was recovering very fast.

Guinea coach Paul Put’s named Keita in the initial 25-man AFCON squad on Saturday.

Guinea are in Group B with Madagascar, Nigeria and Burundi.

Keïta  who made his debut in 2013 has about 31 caps for Guinea and scored five goals.
