A judge in Lagos, Nigeria has renewed a bench warrant for for the arrest of Nigeria legend Jay Jay Okocha.
The former Super Eagles captain’s warrant was issued by Lagos state High Court.
The warrant is said to be in relation to failure to settle a tax evasion case brought against him in 2017.
The former PSG captain was accused of an alleged tax fraud brought against him by the Lagos State government.
The judge first gave the order on January 29, following an application by the Lagos State Ministry of Justice.

The ministry filed a three-count charge against the former PSG midfielder in June 6, 2017, which accused Okocha of “Failure to furnish return of income for tax purposes with the Lagos State Internal Revenue Service contrary to Section 94 (1) of the Personal Income Tax Act Cap P8 Laws of the Federal Republic of Nigeria 2004 (As Amended).
The ministry told the court that Okocha had also failed to appear in court since 2017 when the case was filed against him.
