Coronavirus: Ghanaian Celebrities Who Are Still Stranded Abroad

Although the government of Ghana made arrangements for stranded abroad to return, some people are unable to return home due to the unfavourable and exorbitant terms and conditions given by the government for all who wishes to return home.

Some of the conditions includes; paying for one’s ticket and paying for one’s own feeding and accommodation during the 14 days mandatory quarantine. These conditions have made it extremely difficult for some stranded Ghanaians abroad to return home.

Those stranded also include some of our celebrities. The rest of the article lists the Ghanaians celebrities who are still stranded outside Ghana.

Wutah Kobby

Ghanaian singer, Wutah who is currently stranded in the UK says he cannot return home due to the draconian conditions that the government of Ghana is requesting from anyone who intends to return home in this coronavirus period.

In an interview with Andy Dosty, Wutah said that, “We mean to return, but, the conditions attached to the return is making it very hard…quarantining is not a problem but how many stranded Ghanaians can pay ¢7000 to ¢8400 for the two weeks stay in the suggested hotels. This is extortion.”

Real MC

Ghanaian rapper Real MC is also stranded in UK. The rapper went there for media tour and vacation but has been trapped and stranded for more than four months. Real MC shares the same pain as Wutah Kobby.

Real MC explains that the conditions given by the government make it impossible to return. Also speaking on the Andy Dosty show, Real MC said that himself and some other Ghanaians currently in the UK are unable to return because the money government requests for the evacuation process is huge.

Pappy Kojo

Famous Ghanaian rapper, Pappy Kojo took to his twitter account to announce that he is stranded in Italy after thousands of people have contracted the deadly coronavirus in the country. According to him, he had reached out to the government of Ghana and the Ghana Embassy in Italy, but he is yet to receive any concrete response.

Don Little

Famous Kumawood actor, Steven Atanga, known widely as Don Little, joins the list of Ghanaians who are still outside. In a viral video on social media, Don little said he was homesick and wanted to return home. In the video, he said, “I don’t like the way things are going here. President Akufo-Addo please come to my rescue. I am tired, I want to come back home.”

To prevent being stranded in foreign lands, Ghanaian fashion designer Elikem kumordzie and distinguished media personality Gifty Anti returned home immediately it was announced that Ghana’s borders would be closed.

Sarkodie on the other hand joined the government’s arrangement to evacuate its citizens abroad and return home with his family.
