CAF have dismissed recent publications about the procedure on the draw for the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations in Egypt.

There have been numerous publications in the media indicating the process of this year’s draw.


CAF have entreat the football public to disregard any media publication from other sources concerning the draw.

A statement released on CAF’s website on Monday reads: Following articles published in some media concerning the draw procedure for the Total African Cup of Nations 2019, the Confédération Africaine de Football reminds that the website is the only official communication of CAF competitions.

In accordance with the statutes and regulations of CAF, the procedure for the draw of the Total AFCON, Egypt 2019 will be submitted to the AFCON Organizing Committee and approved by the Executive Committee.


CAF is not responsible for the presumptions published or to appear in the media. An official statement will be published on the CAF website as soon as it the procedure will be approved by the Executive Committee.”

The continent’s football governing body have set Friday April 12 as the date for the draw in Cairo.

24 qualified teams will be shared in six Groups, an expansion of the initial 16 teams in the previous tournaments.
